Cornerstone@concord & Cornerstone@north had their combined church camp on 14th-16th September 2007.
We had a great time of fellowship and fun and were also greatly challenged and taught from God's word in Ephesians, by Mark & CS.
The theme for the weekend was "Life in the Spirit". Mark looked at the Old Testament promise of the Spirit and the New Testament fulfillment of receiving the Spirit. He also gave a very practical talk on what being filled with God's spirit means in our marriages, in our parenting, and at work.
CS spoke from Ephesians 6:10-20 on "Standing Your ground". He talked about struggling against the rulers, powers and darkness of this dark world". That to be filled with the Spirit is to struggle against sin, for Satan will exploit our weaknesses.
He also elaborated on putting on the Armour of God and what each part of the armour represents (please contact Graeme for copies of either Mark's or CS' sermons)
The combined soccer match between Concord and North was fought with much enthusiasm and commitment. Unfortunately, North lost 2-5; not because of the lack of courage, but because of the lack of stamina...
The children's programme was prepared by Gar and Naomi, who had a group of helpers They made swords, sheilds and helmets representing the armour of God and also learnt a song.
The 60s trivia nite was great fun and most people put in alot of effort to dress for the occasion.
It was a wonderful weekend of community, sharing in life, sharing in meals, sharing in times of fun and laughter, singing together, sitting together under the authority of God's word, praying together and learning and growing together; as we seek to live by the Spirit, in the Spirit!
